Microscope-Assisted
Root Canal Therapy Precision endodontics that saves your tooth

With a dental microscope that magnifies the fine structures inside the canal 20×, we remove bacteria precisely to preserve your natural tooth and avoid extraction and subsequent implants.

Why a microscope?

20× magnification,
every canal in clear view. 20× magnification — see every canal.

In conventional root canal treatment, the fine structures inside the canal are hard to see with the naked eye; some accessory or calcified canals are easily missed, leaving bacteria behind and causing re-infection later.

A dental microscope magnifies the working field 20× with strong illumination, so the dentist can clearly see every canal entrance, remove bacteria precisely and reinforce the canal walls. Studies show microscope-assisted root canal treatment can achieve a success rate of over 90%.

When is root canal needed?

When decay reaches the pulp. When decay reaches the nerve.

  • Deep decay reaching the pulp, causing severe pain or hot/cold sensitivity
  • Pulpitis: spontaneous toothache, pain on biting
  • Tooth discolouration or pulp death after trauma
  • Previous root canal failed and needs retreatment
  • Treating infection in an adjacent tooth before an implant
After root canal

A porcelain crown

After a root canal the tooth structure becomes brittle and prone to fracture. We recommend making a porcelain crown within 1–2 weeks of completing the root canal to cover the whole tooth, restore chewing function and protect the natural root for long-term use.

Crowns are made under the care of HKU Master in Prosthodontics Dr. Brian Leung, using all-ceramic material — a natural colour with no dark metal margin.
